What is Clearanail?
Clearanail is a treatment for Fungal Nail infections.
What is Fungal Nail?
Fungal nail (known as Onychomycosis) is the same fungal infection as Athlete’s Foot, which has become established under the toenail.
Why is Fungal Nail difficult to treat?
Antifungal solutions applied to the nail, cannot penetrate beneath the nail as the nail is a drug barrier.
What is special about the Clearanail Treatment?
The Clearanail treatment produces micro holes through the nail, to allow the antifungal medication to reach the infection.
How big are the holes?
Very small, they are 0.4 mm in diameter
(about the same width as four human hairs)
Does it hurt?
No you usually won’t feel anything, apart from a slight vibration as the device is computer controlled to ensure that it does not damage the nail bed.
How many treatments are required?
The Practitioner will only need to make the holes once possibly twice if severe, but will want to see you another few sessions to keep the nail thin & ensure that the treatment is successful.
How long does the treatment take?
Approximately 1 hour to make the holes, however the nail needs to thinned which is included in the treatment. The review appointments need to be every 6/8 weeks until clear.
How is the antifungal solution applied?
This depends upon what treatment your Practitioner, however the topical treatment is often recommended to be applied twice daily.
How quickly will it work?A visible improvement will usually be seen in the nail in 6-8 weeks, however every patient is different and results vary.
How long is the treatment period?
The topical treatment needs to be applied twice daily until clear and for 6 -12 months thereafter.
Cost?
This depends upon the Practitioner providing the treatment.
